Mimi Little

Mimi works with acrylics and collage. She produces works in series based on her life and travels. Her past series included the boats and docks of Nantucket, MA, the culture and ceremonies of Haiti, the tobacco barns of Calvert County, the old houses of Southern Florida, beachcombers and the rivers, Bay and ocean. Her paintings are abstract in nature with vivid colors and vigorous brushstrokes. She often writes on her pieces, words woven into texture and color creating a strong narrative across each series.

The works in this show are works on paper linked in clusters or stretching along a wall. They tell stories about food and its place in our lives, our friendships and our community. The figures are bold yet abstracted so that they represent the universal theme and not an individual. Still, you will look and say "is that me? Is that my family? My friends?" Images are based on an community event, a local restaurant, local festival a pie made for a friend that are at once personal experiences with universal appeal.

Mimi has had solo exhibits in Massachusetts, Virginia, Maryland and Florida. She is affiliated with the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia, the Arts Council of Calvert County and the Ann Marie Garden in Solomons. Mimi lives on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland as well as in Ft. Meyers Beach in Southwest Florida.
